4 days Lyon

Lyon, the French capital of gastronomy! This culinary journey for foodies takes us to Lyon and its surroundings. Discover the old town of Lyon with its famous "Traboules" and its long lively riverfront. The typical restaurants with homemade specialties here are called "Bouchons". One of the most famous chefs in the world comes from this area: Paul Bocuse. From Tokyo to Miami, and from Geneva to New York, the "handwriting" of Bocuse is to be found all over the world. His restaurant, he had his business in Collonges-au-Mont-d'or, a small village next to Lyon.

1st day Lyon

Today you will arrive on the airport of Lyon. Once there, we start with a typical French lunch in a well-known brasserie in Lyon. After that we start with a detailed city tour through Lyon. We visit the Place Bellecour, Opera, Hôtel de Ville and the Basilika Notre-Dame de Fourvière. The dinner we will have in the brasserie of the hotel.

2nd day Lyon

After a hearty breakfast we start the day comfortably and visit the local market at Quai Saint-Antoine. During a boat trip on the Saône, one of the two rivers that flow through Lyon, we get to know Lyon from another side. We ending for the lunch with a visit to the "Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse". At this food market you can find all the delicacies of Lyon and its surroundings, which of course we have to taste! The afternoon is at leisure. Today we enjoy dinner in a typical “bouchon”. Everything is really homemade here. There are numerous traditional Lyonian specialties, such as "Quenelles" (elongated semolina dumplings) and "Andouillettes" (sausages made from offal). The menu changes regularly, what is very important: You are warmly welcomed and dined in a cozy, sociable atmosphere. The decoration is typical of the city: small red and white checkered tablecloths and the famous marionette Guignol.

3rd day Lyon - Beaujolais

The chocolate museum including the “Musco” factory is located very close to Lyon - an absolute paradise for chocolate lovers! Mr Sève personally overwhelmed me with his knowledge of the production of chocolate. Then the Beaujolais wine region, where we visit a winemaker. After a guided tour, some wines will be tasted. We have lunch in the middle of the wine fields. We conclude the last evening in Lyon with a gourmet menu in the Michelin restaurant "La Mère Brazier", where Paul Bocuse worked as a student and as a young chef.

4th day Lyon – Home

Unfortunately, time flies too quickly and we have to say goodbye to Lyon.
The return journey takes us back through the Airport of Lyon from where you are flying back home with a stop in Paris.
